Services

From the first search to the final report

Three kinds of work, taken separately or together. Each is built around what a reviewer scores and what a monitor tests.

Grant strategy and proposal development

We start by deciding which opportunities deserve your time. Then we write the application so the narrative, the budget and the forms agree with each other.

  • Opportunity scans and go or no-go advice
  • Narratives, budgets and logic models
  • Complete application packages, submitted on time
  • Federal, state and foundation funders

Post-award compliance and grant management

The notice of award comes with terms. We turn them into a calendar, a tracking system, and reports that go out when they are due.

  • Award setup and review of the terms and conditions
  • Drawdowns, financial reports and performance reports
  • Subrecipient monitoring
  • Davis-Bacon, environmental review and HUD Section 3 where they apply
  • Closeout

Capacity building and audit readiness

If a monitoring visit or an audit is coming, or one just went badly, we build the controls and the written procedures that answer it.

  • Risk assessments
  • Internal controls and written procedures
  • Corrective action plans
  • Training for staff and subrecipients

Ways to work with us

Pick the size that fits the problem

  • Proposal sprint

One application, from kickoff to submission, in two to eight weeks.

  • Monthly grants management

An ongoing arrangement for organizations carrying several awards at once.

  • Compliance and monitoring review

A check of your files and procedures against what the award requires.

  • Audit prep and closeout

Help getting ready for an audit, or closing an award cleanly.

  • Training and systems

Written procedures, tracking tools and staff training that stay after we leave.

Worth knowing before you apply

What a funder checks before it funds you

Before a federal agency makes an award, it assesses the risk the applicant poses. The federal grant rules list five things it should weigh.

All five are about how the organization runs. We help you get them in order before you apply, when it still counts.

  • Management systems

Whether past reports were on time and past awards closed clean.

  • Audit reports and findings

Whether findings are resolved or still open.
